Riding
The trail map below is from the usfs visitor map. Link Here
Below is a map from the website of Knebal Springs. This map has mileage for the main loop.
Riding Options
Loop Route Trail 474 to 455
Total Miles: 9.33 miles
Time Taken: 4 hours hiking Ascent: 1962 feet This trail was described as easy by Kim McCarrel. However, on Gaia other hikers rated this loop as difficult. I never take Kim's ratings as accurate. Looking at the elevation profile, riding a trail with a total ascent of 1962 feet is in the difficult range unless you are an endurance rider or back-country packer. Going counter-clockwise you climb going south to forest road 44 and then descend going north from road 44 back to the horse camp. Basically you climb going away from camp no matter what direction you ride and ride down hill on the leg returning to camp.

Knebal Springs to 5 Mile Butte Loop
Total Miles: 9.6 miles
Time Taken: Ascent: 1938 feet I was looking for the fastest and easiest route to climb up on 5 mile butte to see the view. Again with this loop you climb going away from camp and go downhill to return to camp. If you are aching for a longer ride you can combine riding around the Butte with the 474 and 455 trails.
